The US Presidential election looks to be tightening after the two major parties concluded their conventions according to a pair of new polls. The Emerson poll released yesterday cuts Biden lead over Trump to just 2 points, half the 4-point lead he had in s similar poll conducted in July. A Yahoo News-YouGov poll published over the weekend also showed that the Democrat’s lead had shrunk to its lowest level in months, although it still stood at 6 points.
Yesterday Biden gave his most forceful counterargument to Trump on the issue of law and order, one area where Trump and his party believe they have the upper hand. Biden argued that there would be more violence in America if the president is re-elected stating ‘You know me. You know my heart. You know my story. Ask yourself: Do I look like a radical socialist with a soft spot for rioters? Really? I want a safe America’ adding ‘He's supposed to be protecting this country, but instead he’s rooting for chaos and violence. The simple truth is Donald Trump failed to protect America, so now he’s trying to scare America’.
It did not take Trump long to reply, tweeting ‘Just watched what Biden had to say. To me, he’s blaming the Police far more than he’s blaming the Rioters, Anarchists, Agitators, and Looters, which he could never blame, or he would lose the Radical Left Bernie supports!’
Interestingly, just to put another spanner in the works, a recent survey also found that about 1 in 10 supporters of Trump are more likely to lie about their voting preference when asked, whereas that figure goes to 1 in 20 for Biden’s supporters.
